Apex is developing the 500 MW ‘Lake Erie Wind Project’, an offshore wind energy project located in Lake Erie off the coast of Chautauqua and Erie Counties, New York.

Project Site

The 75,000-acre site is in New York state waters under the jurisdiction of the New York Office of General Services (OGS). It was identified in 2008 as part of a NYSERDA-supported feasibility study evaluating the potential for wind energy in Lake Erie.  The area identified was selected because it has a strong wind resource, feasible water depth, access to transmission, and manageable conflicting uses.
