Description:
Apex is seeking an Electrical Engineering and Transmission Manager to manage the company’s multiple transmission interconnection requests located in several different RTOs and manage various electrical engineering consultants supporting the development and design of wind energy projects. Former experience in utility-scale electrical design and experience with transmission interconnection requests is required.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the transmission interconnection requests for Apex’s fleet of projects in multiple ISOs (PJM, SPP, MISO, WECC) by managing and/or performing deliverability studies, filing interconnection requests, tracking progress in the queue, and coordinating with system operators and transmission operators on design, schedule and cost
- Assist in determining optimal substation configurations as well as transmission and collection routes
- Create and maintain Apex’s electrical design guidelines and specifications
- Oversee technical details and work closely with electrical design consultants
Other
- Perform grid analysis to determine optimal points of interconnect for site prospecting
- Track nationwide transmission planning activities
- Coordination/implementation of LMP and congestion analysis
- Carry out other project development responsibilities as they are assigned
Requirements:
- Minimum Bachelor’s of Science degree in electrical engineering
- Three to five years minimum of related experience
- Demonstrated management skills and ability to multi-task
- Experience managing consulting engineering firms
- Must be willing to relocate to Charlottesville, VA
